DERMS Technical Lead:
The GE DERMS Technical Lead is responsible for leading the design, development, integration, and implementation of GE's Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS). This role ensures the successful delivery of DERMS solutions that help utilities manage distributed energy resources such as solar, wind, battery storage, and EVs.
- Technical Leadership
- Lead the end-to-end technical delivery of GE DERMS implementations
- Provide architectural guidance and technical solutions
- Solution Design & Implementation
- Design DERMS solutions aligned with grid operations and business requirements
- Configure and customize GE DERMS platform
- System Integration
- Integrate DERMS with utility systems such as:
- SCADA
- ADMS/EMS
- OMS (Outage Management System)
- AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure)
- Integrate DERMS with utility systems such as:
- Distributed Energy Management
- Enable monitoring and control of distributed energy resources (DERs)
- Support grid optimization, load balancing, and demand response programs
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work with business teams, utilities, vendors, and GE stakeholders
- Translate business requirements into technical designs
- Performance & Troubleshooting
- Ensure system performance, scalability, and reliability

DERMS BA
Business Analyst - Energy Transition (Solar, Flexible Export, Emergency Backstop)
The Business Analyst plays a key role in supporting energy transition initiatives, particularly in solar integration, distributed energy resources (DER), and grid modernization programs such as Flexible Export and Emergency Backstop. The role involves gathering requirements, analyzing business processes, and delivering data-driven insights to enable efficient and reliable energy systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering
- Collaborate with stakeholders including utilities, regulators, solar providers, and technical teams to gather and document business requirements.
- Translate regulatory and energy market requirements into functional specifications.
- Develop business process models (As-Is / To-Be) for energy transition programs.
2. Energy Transition Programs Support
- Support implementation of:
- Solar integration projects (rooftop solar, DER onboarding)
- Flexible Export solutions (dynamic export limits based on grid capacity)
- Emergency Backstop mechanisms (grid protection during system stress events)
- Analyse impacts of renewable generation on grid stability and customer operations.
3. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyse energy consumption, solar export data, and grid performance datasets.
- Provide insights on:
- Export constraints
- Curtailment events
- Network capacity utilisation
- Build dashboards and reports for stakeholders.
4. Stakeholder Management
- Work with internal and external stakeholders including:
- Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSPs)
- Energy regulators and compliance teams
- Solar installers and aggregators
- Facilitate workshops, requirement sessions, and solution walkthroughs.
5. Process Improvement & Solution Design
- Identify opportunities to improve energy system efficiency and customer experience.
- Support design of systems related to:
- DER integration platforms
- Grid management systems
- Demand response and export control solutions
6. Testing & Implementation
- Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) for energy systems and digital platforms.
- Validate system behaviour for:
- Flexible export limits
- Emergency backstop triggering scenarios
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and technical standards.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong business analysis skills (requirements gathering, process mapping, documentation)
- Experience in energy utilities, renewable energy, or grid operations
- Knowledge of:
- Solar PV systems and DER
- Flexible export frameworks
- Emergency backstop / grid protection schemes
- Data analysis skills (Excel, SQL, Power BI or similar tools)
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in energy markets
- Excellent stakeholder communication and facilitation skills
