We are seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to join a large enterprise technology environment supporting critical network security infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong hands-on experience administering, supporting, and configuring Palo Alto and Check Point firewalls within a complex enterprise environment.
Working within an experienced infrastructure and cyber security team, you will be responsible for the ongoing support, configuration, maintenance, and optimisation of enterprise firewall platforms while contributing to network security improvements and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure and support Palo Alto and Check Point firewall environments.
- Perform firewall rule implementation, policy reviews, NAT configuration and security policy optimisation.
- Manage firewall change requests and ensure compliance with established change management processes.
- Troubleshoot complex network and firewall incidents across enterprise environments.
- Monitor firewall health, performance and security events.
- Support VPN technologies, remote access and site-to-site connectivity.
- Work closely with Cyber Security and Infrastructure teams to implement security improvements and best practices.
- Assist with firewall upgrades, software updates and lifecycle management.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for network security issues.
Required Experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting Palo Alto and Check Point firewall technologies within enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on experience configuring firewall policies, NAT, VPNs and security zones.
- Experience with firewall troubleshooting, performance tuning and operational support.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing and switching.
- Experience supporting enterprise network environments including LAN, WAN and VPN technologies.
- Strong knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within ITIL-based operational and change management environments.
Highly Regarded
- Experience with Cisco networking technologies.
- Experience with F5 Load Balancers.
- Exposure to SD-WAN technologies.
- Experience supporting cloud networking within AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of network monitoring and security monitoring tools.
Certifications (Highly Desirable)
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) or PCNSA
- Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) or Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE)
- Cisco CCNA or CCNP
- F5 Certified Administrator (F5-CA)
