Role Summary:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Mid-Level Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic and growing technology team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing, maintaining, and optimising our critical database infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across our various business units. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant projects and work with a range of modern database technologies within a large-scale enterprise environment.
Core Responsibilities:
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience as a Database Administrator in an enterprise environment.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages ( PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Experience with cloud database services (Azure SQL Database, GCP Cloud SQL) is a plus.
- Database Management: Administer, monitor, and maintain relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra) to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability.
- Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve database performance issues, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and system configuration adjustments.
- Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage robust backup and recovery procedures, ensuring data integrity and rapid restoration capabilities.
- Security: Enforce database security policies, manage user access, and implement best practices to protect sensitive data.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related incidents, including connectivity issues, data corruption, and system failures.
- Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline database administration tasks and improve efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development teams, system administrators, and other IT professionals to support application deployments, migrations, and new initiatives.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- On-Call Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide out-of-hours support for critical database incidents.
