Role Summary:
The Transformation Director is accountable for leading and delivering large-scale digital transformation programs for Financial Services clients (banking, insurance, wealth/superannuation). The role owns end-to-end transformation outcomes across application build, run/operate, and quality engineering/testing, with a strong emphasis on embedding AI-driven interventions across the SDLC to accelerate delivery, improve reliability, and uplift engineering productivity. The role provides senior leadership across strategy, governance, execution, change adoption, and commercial management, partnering with C-suite stakeholders to deliver measurable business and technology outcomes.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 15+ years in technology delivery / consulting / engineering leadership with at least 5+ years leading enterprise-scale digital transformation programs.
- Demonstrated leadership of large-scale application portfolios spanning build + run + test operating models.
- Proven experience delivering transformation for Financial Services clients (banking/insurance/wealth), including complex stakeholder and governance environments.
- Hands-on leadership in AI-powered SDLC transformation (GenAI/automation across requirements-to-operations), with an approach that includes controls, adoption, and measurable outcomes.
- Strong program leadership capability: portfolio planning, RAID, financials, dependency management, executive reporting, and benefits tracking.
- Familiarity with AI-driven transition and transformation enablers
Key Responsibilities:
- Transformation strategy and leadership - Define the transformation vision, target operating model, and multi-year roadmap, aligned to client business strategy and regulatory context.
- Lead a portfolio of transformation initiatives (technology, process, operating model, ways-of-working), ensuring business case clarity, sequencing, and benefits realization.
- Establish and run robust program governance: steering committees, RAID, financial controls, dependency management, and executive reporting cadence.
- Drive AI-enabled engineering transformation, ensuring GenAI is embedded across the SDLC (not limited to "code copilots"), addressing tooling, process, platform, and talent bottlenecks.
- Transform operate/run model toward SRE-aligned practices, observability, proactive operations, and automated remediation using AIOps and intelligent triage
- Lead transformation adoption: stakeholder alignment, comms strategy, training enablement, and sustainable ways of working.
- Build and inspire cross-functional teams (engineering, architecture, ops, QE, security), including capability uplift and leadership coaching.
